Help the Flathead Food Bank Reduce Child Hunger

What is the BackPack Program?

It’s nearly time to head back to school in the Flathead Valley. While the excitement is buzzing in the air for a new year, we want to be sure that all students have the most important basics to enjoy learning and thriving in their classrooms. Approximately 12.1% of our local children in the Flathead Valley face food insecurity. Thankfully, the Flathead Food Bank works tirelessly to provide programs to assist families in need. One program, the BackPack Program, in particular works with teachers, counselors and administrative staff at over 20 schools in the Flathead to identify students in need. The program provides weekend bag distributions for children consisting of breakfast, lunch, juice, milk and a treat for each day the student is out of school. Bags are prepared in advance and distributed discreetly on the last day before a weekend or school holiday, ensuring children have enough to each when school-provided meals are not available. Foods are non-perishable and child-friendly, so they may be easily prepared. The program in our local Flathead Valley alone services over 450 students, while providing over 73,000 meals annually!

Taking Action for Children

At Kalispell Auto Group, we firmly believe in the value of being good community citizens. Being actively involved with our community is of the utmost importance to us as they provide us our successes. For the entire month of August, each of our three dealerships; Kalispell Ford, Kalispell Toyota and Kalispell Volkswagen will donate $50 from every vehicle sold towards the BackPack Program with the goal of raising $20,000. We have successfully executed this program for the last several years and hope you’ll help us with our endeavor in supporting our local food bank!

How Can You Help?

Helping is simple! If you’re in the market for a new or new to you vehicle, our dealerships in the Kalispell Auto Group would love to help. Consider us as your dealer of choice this August and know that a part of that purchase will go directly to the BackPack Program. Not in the market – no problem! Monetary donations can be made at the dealerships and will go directly to our BackPack Program Drive, then given to the food bank just in time for the 2023-2024 school year.
